Settle Loop Race takes place on Sunday September 18th 2011, a challenging 8.5 miles with 1200’ of ascent. We changed the course last year to take out the tarmac, and feedback was that runners liked it so we’re sticking with that route. It follows established bridleways on green lanes, tracks, grassy and rocky paths (with just 400m on tarmac) and has some steep uphill sections. Runners are taken through stunning limestone scenery with extensive views of the Three Peaks area and Malham Tarn, one of the most beautiful parts of the Yorkshire Dales. The race is a category BM race under Fellrunners Association rules.
The race raises much-needed funds for Settle’s Scouts, Beavers and Cubs, and race registration takes place at the Scouts’ base, Settle’s Drill Hall on Castleberg Lane. It’s a stone’s throw from the Market Place and local car parks (please note they are pay and display and the council does check them!) and 5 minutes from the train station.
