Settle Loop
Welcome

Welcome to the Settle Loop Tough Trail Race website. We are a group of volunteers coming together as our local Scout Group's Fundraising Committee, comprised of parents, runners and Scout leaders who organise an annual trail race around the Settle Loop, a scenic 10 mile bridleway  which climbs steeply up the fells from Settle, traverses the sweeping grassy moorlands above and finally plummets back down to where it started.

In the spring of 2010 we will also be organising a trail quest event around the local area, taking in some of the finest mountain biking trails in the UK. Please check back for more news of this event to be posted soon.

All proceeds from these events are donated to the 1st Castleberg (Settle) Scout Group.

We would like to thank the following businesses who have supported our race and helped to make the race a big success:

Castleberg Sports
Buon Vino
Hilly clothing
Rebound Clinic
The Gym, Settle
The Talbot Arms, Settle

Entries for the 2010 Settle Loop Tough Trail Race are now open. The race will be held on Sunday 12th September with a 10.45am start. The course has been changed slightly, which enables the race to be a Category BM race under the Fell Runners Association rules.

Please note that despite what we previously posted here, the race does not act as a qualifier for the Three Peaks fell race. Please accept our appologies for any confusion caused.

The start is now in the same field as the finish and from there goes up the grassy bank heading towards Attermire Cave. The route then follows the footpath to emerge onto Stockdale Lane at SD 847 638, where it then picks up the old route towards Stockdale Farm and stays on the old route until the finish. Please see the Trail Race section on the left for a map of the updated route.

To enter, please download and print the entry form (553KB pdf, requires the free Adobe Reader or equivalent) and return to:

Entry fees and payment methods are detailed on the entry form. All entries must be received by the 5th of September 2010. Entry on the day will be available if the race limit of 200 has not been reached.
